Season Two is the second and final season of the Gossip Girl revival, inspired by the American teen drama based upon the book series written by Cecily von Ziegesar. This season premiered on December 1, 2022 on HBO Max.

Previously, Evan Mock announced the show was already renewed for a season 3 on August 25th, 2023. However, on January 19th, 2023, HBO Max announced they would not be renewing Gossip Girl for a third season, due to the lack of capturing the zeitgeist of the original, and not able to break out on its own.

Synopsis

With only 5 months left in the school year, Kate is doing everything she can to manage the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite/spin their scandalous lies. She's learnt a few things from her first go-round, most notably that her fans will get what they want. It's time to intensify what has been boiling and consider her own role in it and how she may make it much more terrible than it already is. Even if it requires lying. However, when allegiances shift, new pals join the drama, and old faces return, only one queen can rule this semester, and by the end of the year, everyone will know where the bodies are buried and who was holding the shovel.

2		Guess Who's Coming at Dinner	December 1, 2022
		Much to Nick's annoyance, Zoya spends more time with Shan's family, while Max's parents organize a crucial dinner that ultimately spirals out of control into chaos. The feud between Julien and Monet gets ugly as they are both considered for a coveted magazine shoot for the Spectator following the fallout from the Debutant.
3		Great Reputations	December 8, 2022
		Though the new queen of Constance, Monet yearns for a real rivalry with Julien as they both compete for Grace's attention to benefit themselves. Meanwhile, Obie asks for Julien's help managing their friends ahead of meeting Grace's family. Max feels forgotten and rejected in New York society and asks for help from Aki and Audrey to come back on top.
4		One Flew Over The Cuck's Nest	December 15, 2022
		Julien struggles to show Grace's true colors to Obie. Audrey and Max suspect Aki is keeping a secret. Zoya learns of Nick's betrayal. As queen of Constance, Monet hosts the annual 'Kiss on the Lips party' and attempts to expose her father.
5		Games, Trains, and Automobiles	December 22, 2022
		Kate, Jordan, and Wendy attempt to conceal Gossip Girl's identity from a determined Mike. Audrey breaks down after Max and Aki go away on a trip without her. Shan convinces Zoya to attend a rave in Philly.
6		How to Bury a Millionaire	December 29, 2022
		A familiar figure blackmails Kate into ruining an important event. Obie proposes a transactional offer that would destroy his family to Gossip Girl. After being shut down by Julien, Zoya goes to Monet for help. Julien learns the truth about Graham.
7		Dress Me Up! Dress Me Down!	January 5, 2023
		While Audrey juggles her father, his new girlfriend, and Kiki's launch, Gossip Girl drives a wedge between her and Julien. Camille forms a bond with Zoya, resulting in Monet being jealous. Kate and Wendy derive a plan to get rid of Georgina.
8		Y Lu's Mamá También	January 12, 2023
		Max and Audrey scheme to redeem Kiki's reputation - at the expense of Aki's feelings and Julien's reputation. Kate receives a request about the future of Gossip Girl. Luna's mother returns to the Upper East Side for a movie premiere, which further strains the fragile bond between the two. Monet is forced to settle with cancellation and dethronement as queen of Constance.
9		I Know What You Did Last Summit	January 19, 2023
		Max, Audrey, and Aki navigate the growing complications of being a triad. Kate enters an uneasy alliance with a former foe. Julien weathers her quest to destroy Gossip Girl alone - until a shocking implication hits too close to home.
10		I Am Gossip	January 26, 2023
		With the school year coming to an end, Julien and her friends team up for a final showdown with Kate. Obie goes to war with Heidi. Aki and Audrey make a big decision regarding Max. Zoya makes a life altering decision that could put her future in jeopardy.

Production

Sometime between January and February 2022, production on the second season started. Filming began on February 4, 2022. On February 10, 2022, there was a casting call, that expired on February 18, 2022, was posted on the website Backstage, looking for Upscale Party Guests with Cocktail Attire for background/extras, all genders, 35+ years of age and all ethnicities. and Protestors With Upscale Black Cars (Sedans Only) for background/extras, all genders, 18+ years of age and all ethnicities. Rehearsal and filming dates are set as: February 11-17, 2022 in New York City.

Production on this season also shot in Rome and Milan, Italy; filming concluded on August 11th, 2022.

• Showrunner Joshua Safran regularly tweets information about the show.
  • According to rumors, the season will feature the Met Gala. Joshua Safran, the showrunner, answered this by tweeting "I'll never tell."
  • A video promo "It only takes one spark to start a fire…" featured a brunette woman in a theater. This could mean the return of Michelle Trachtenberg as Georgina Sparks from the original Gossip Girl show. Joshua Safran tweeted to this video: “The cat has escaped the bag — thank Jesus!”
  • Joshua Safran directed 4 episodes this season.
    • He is not allowed to reveal the episodes count for Season 2.
