It was officially announced on July 18, 2019, that there will be a reboot of the original Gossip Girl (TV series).
WarnerMedia, on behalf of HBO's soon-to-be-launched streaming service HBO Max, has ordered 10 hour-long episodes of the new version of the show. The show will tackle contemporary issues, including social media and online privacy.
The show will still be based on the books by Cecily von Ziegesar.
"Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media—and the landscape of New York itself—has changed in the intervening years." - Logline
The actors are still to be determined.
