Luna de la Cruz, better known as Luna La, is a main character in the Gossip Girl revival. She is portrayed by Zion Moreno.
Summary
Luna was born in Mexico, before immigrating to America, where she had male to female surgery, and was left in the care of her grandmother when she was only 10 years old. Just like her friends, she grew up wealthy as her father is a famous Mexican director, and her mother is a famous Mexican actress. She lives alone in New York while her parents make movies around the world. Luna is Julien’s close friend and functions as her stylist. Luna doesn’t follow trends, she creates them. However, although she has everything, she tries to make a name for herself outside of Julien's shadow.

Season One
In "Just Another Girl on the MTA", Luna prepares for her first day back Constance Billard St. Jude's School for her junior year. She dismisses Julien Calloway's broach suggestion as she was already photographed wearing it, so everyone knows it. She adds that Julien should melt it down. She arrives at Constance Billard St. Jude's School with a complete makeup glam for Julien, beating her face while Monet de Haan searches for the perfect lighting. They are preparing for Julien's "back to school" Instagram photo. As Monet is about to take the photo, Julien's arm clips that of a teachers, causing the teacher to spill her coffee. Julien initially apologizes until Monet and Luna descend, easily shaming the teacher for her choice in wardrobe, her financial status, and everything they can. Another teacher escorts Ms. Keller away, while Monet and Luna fuss over Julien's Capricine bag. That morning, the trio lounges whilst waiting for the rest of their friends to arrive.
One-by-one they trickle in, until the seven elite are gathered; Max Wolfe, Aki Menzies, Audrey Hope, Obie Bergmann IV, and of course, Julien Calloway, Monet de Haan, and Luna herself. Obie is sweaty when he arrives, having forgotten his promise to Julien that he would do her Instagram story. Luna and Monet are visibly annoyed by this. As they chat, Audrey mentions that Julien is distracted as she's looking for her half-sister. Julien shuts down the claim. Audrey begins to talk about Zoya being a stalker, just as the girl crosses the opposite end of the quad. Luna dismisses her entirely as she "can't see freshman" and has no idea who they're talking about.
At lunch, the seven elite gather at the MET steps as Max reminds everyone that they have to meet at Dumbo Hall for fashion week. Luna is intrigued by the idea due to love for fashion. Across the street, Zoya waits for the light which surprises Max and everyone else. However, Luna reiterates that she doesn't know why they're talking about as she "still can't see freshman". When Zoya sits at the steps below them, Julien makes an effort to be nice to Zoya by complimenting her shoes. Luna, Monet, and Audrey are turned off by the idea. Luna assures the girls that if they close their eyes the girl will disappear. Though, when Julien stands to help Zoya get rid of her scarf headband, Luna fixes Julien's collar at the same time. Julien asks her friends if it's okay that Zoya joins them at Dumbo Hall, with Luna sighing that she doesn't care.
That night, Monet and Luna prepare for Dumbo Hall as they climb into an Uber they ordered for the night. They receive their first Gossip Girl notifications. At the soiree, Julien steps out of the elevator and greets Luna and Monet, the latter who immediately asks her about the post they're tagged in. The trio dismiss the account, belittling it as nothing more than someone petty. As the event unfolds, things seem to go well as Luna keeps her snide comments to a minimum despite her visible disdain for Zoya's lack of Upper East Side etiquette. Later, Monet and Luna are among the seven elite who are shocked to learn that Julien not only knew Zoya before her enrollment, but used her fathers scholarship funds to get her a secured spot. The following morning, everyone awakens to a Gossip Girl blast that labels Obie and Zoya as a couple. Luna and Monet try to convince Julien that Zoya isn't just bad for her relationship with Obie, but also bad for her brand. Julien's perspective shifts when she stands at the bottom of the school steps as everyone whispers about her and "#Zobie". Monet urges Julien to take action. Julien hatches a plan for the fashion show that night.
Monet and Luna take matters into their own hands in an effort to destroy Zoya. They make a deal with Gossip Girl, with their plan taking effect the moment Zoya arrives. Monet "accidentally" bumps into Zoya, reprimands the girl for being on her phone, and takes the moment to switch out their cells. With the new phone, Monet gives it to Luna who enlists Max's help. She takes a photo of his balls and then returns the photo to Monet, who uses a Bluetooth sharing app to cast the photo to everyone. The girls feign disgust as they point out Zoya to the alarmed security guards. As the girl is being exited out, Monet snaps a picture of the sisters facing one another and sends it to Gossip Girl. Their plan is successful as they drive the sisters apart. The next school day, Monet and Luna are back to their dutiful roles as they prim and prep Julien for her day ahead. Luna even stays silent as Julien runs into Ms. Keller again, only this time, Julien helps clean-up and compliments her blazer. Luna scoffs at this but doesn't offer verbal assaults as she did previously.
In "She's Having a Maybe", Luna's parents attend parent teacher night at Constance Billard St. Jude's School, so Luna and her friends attend a party at Dumbo. She arrives with Monet and Julien, though they are all worried about Julien's social media presence struggling now that she doesn't have Obie. Luna reminds her it will be like that time she accidentally took a selfie behind a homeless camp and wore a "Bernie babe" tee for a week. Julien strongly believes that if she apologizes to Obie profusely can win him back, but Monet and Luna exchange a skeptical while they verbally agree. They take a photo for Julien's Instagram account while at the party, to let her followers know that they are having a girls night out. When Julien is pulled away by Audrey, Monet confides in Luna that if Julien's social media presence continues to decline, then Monet can kiss an Edelman Summer internship goodbye. She needs to get "#Jobie" - Julien and Obie - back together STAT or convince Julien to move on first. The group gathers together at the couches, with Julien still wanting Obie back. She also doesn't believe that Zoya did anything wrong, though Luna disagrees. She then shows Julien that Obie liked their Instagram photo so Julien excitedly asks if they can talk, but he refuses by claiming he's tired.
However, a Gossip Girl blast that night changes everything - Zoya and Obie were spotted together outside her building. Aki tries to remind everyone that two people can hang out, even though Audrey, Luna, and Monet sharply shut the idea down. Audrey and Monet want Julien to crush her like the Queen she is, but Julien insists they don't do hierarchies. Luna chimes in that everyone already knew who was in charge. They decide to post a filtered photo of Julien and Obie to make it seem as though Gossip Girl isn't credible. The next morning at school, Obie and Julien breakup for good with Audrey thinking it's for the best. Monet protests that Julien is not better off. Luna tells her that Gossip Girl is on her way out but if Julien wants Obie back then Zoya has to be banished. Julien doesn't agree as that would make Obie pine after her even more, but instead of driving Zoya away from here they'll drive Obie away from her. Luna notes that he's already seen her and is still interested, but Julien wants to uncancel GG in exchange for dirt on Little Z.
At the charity gala for the school that night, Luna and Monet press for Julien to release the Zoya gossip that she scored from GG. But Julien is sure it's a precision strike for Obie only. But when Zoya shows up alongside her dad, the night goes south with Julien's dad turning on her. Meanwhile, Monet and Luna humorously watch a drunk Kiki Hope, Audrey's mother, make a scene and cut her hand. Monet photographs the entire incident as she and Luna laugh over them. Their humor is disrupted when an emotional Julien states that she needs to get rid of Zoya for good. Luna tells her that Obie and Zoya left together, so they form an alternative plan with Gossip Girl in which they lure Davis and Nick to Zoya and Obie's location. The trio arrives at a store where Zobie are shopping happily, with Monet and Luna urging her to go in and ruin their high. Julien realizes that she never did these things with Obie, realizing that they didn't work together. Luna and Monet silently watch Zoya, Nick, Julien, and Davis square off on the sidewalk.
The next day at school, Luna and Monet are beyond thrilled to tell Julien that whatever she did to Zoya last night worked - she's withdrawing from Constance. Julien is surprised to learn it's happening at this exact moment, and Luna points Zoya and Nick out from across the hall. Julien rushes away much to Monet and Luna's disdain.
In "Lies Wide Shut", Luna and Monet read Gossip Girl's latest post shaming Julien for her inability to find a new love interest despite chasing many around the world. The girls warn Julien that she has to get under a new heir if she hopes to get over the old one. Julien doesn't like any of them. Luna reminds her that she doesn't have to like them - she just has to date them. That afternoon, the girls watch as Julien watches Zobie in the courtyard with a pining look. Luna scoffs at the sight with Monet knowing they've worked too hard too hard for Julien to abdicate without a fight, with Luna noting they tried every one on the Quest 400 list. Max walks by, adding his commentary that it's probably her and not her dates. Julien objects to them talking about her, declaring she's exhausted. Max, however, appraises Julien's curated look by Monet and Luna, and says she's a walking billboard, and subsequently has no depth. He offers to take Julien on a Manhattan Maxploration to find herself again. Luna and Monet insist that Julien document it, even though Audrey disagrees.
Luna becomes bored and feels petty, so she gets the "Ju-lions" to trend #Zugly, Zoya ugly, about Zoya Lott. She goes out drinking with Monet and is disturbed when Zoya calls her. Luna defends her position by saying that Zoya deserves it for dressing poorly, but offers her assistance in helping Zoya so she won't be called "#Zugly" ever again. When she hangs up, Luna tells Monet that they should get in with the new world order. Her run-down on the dos and don'ts of the fashion world begins first thing the next morning. Luna starts by reading a berating article about Zoya to the girl, then elaborates that if Zoya doesn't understand things fast, she'll continue to be an uncultured nobody. Luna lists off her rules. One, Zoya mustn't ever talk in public - as she's learned from the article. Two, never stare directly at anything. To help, wear contacts, even if they aren't needed as it makes it look like you're smiling. Three, never sweat. Luna surprisingly holds up a syringe. Zoya exclaims she's fourteen and can't have Botox. Luna scoffs and gives her a pad instead for under her arms. Four, know your side; your good side, to be exact. Thus, begin a trial and tribulation of good smiles, good duck lips and good walking. Finally, five tenants to live and die by in public: Never eat, cry, PDA, MTA, or wear flats - or trust your doorman. Zoya opens up about living in her Grandmothers former apartment unbeknownst to the housing board, but is stopped by Luna - she's a client, not a colleague. Luna then orders Zoya to show her what's in her bag.
The next day, Luna and Monet wait for Julien by the lockers and try not to panic when Julien admits that she forgot her phone. However, Julien refuses to let Monet post anything as she's offline for the day. When Julien flaunts off, Monet tells Luna that Zoya won't play along so they need to reinstate order as it was once - JC on top, alone. Luna coyly reveals she has intel on Little Z to truly make her history. Monet says if they won't start a war themselves, they'll start one for them. Luna whispers it to Monet's ear, pleased at the scandalousness. The girls smirk sinisterly at the courtyard.

In "Deb Brawl in a Blue Dress", Luna returns to New York after the Winter break, hoping that Julien's social media hiatus isn't permanent. She's disturbed that Julien wants to step back and let the offers come to her instead of seeking them out, since she won't have a platform to wait with if she doesn't post. Monet decides to pull strings to get Julien into the deb ball, but is secretly scheming behind her back. Monet is ready to take Julien's crown for good so she can be the star. Initially, Luna stays out of the situation, instead giving Max some advice on how to deal with his triad relationship. When Monet goes too far by inviting Davis to the deb ball, Luna decides to align herself with Julien to take Monet down a peg. But in the meantime, she leaves the deb ball and reminds Max that Aki and Audrey have never had to worry about being accepted before. She tells him to remember what the fear of rejection felt like. He wonders when she became the wisest of them all, though darling, she always has been. She leaves the party with two men.
In "Guess Who's Coming at Dinner", Monet's plans to take down Julien reaches new heights. She manipulates the entire student body and faculty into reverting to ways of tradition - 1940s tradition, in fact. Luna convinces Julien to fight back in this war, but in a way that Monet doesn't know it's her scheming. She proposes the newest magazine feature dinner as the perfect place to do it. Together, they submit fake political topics for Monet, request a vegan dinner knowing that Julien will shine, and make unexpected adjustments to the evening. Monet is left feeling depleted, as the magazine opts to go with Julien's feature instead. Luna celebrates with Julien as they did it all without anyone knowing. As if on cue, their phones blow up with the newest Gossip Girl blast, outing Julien as a conspirator in Monet's dinner fail. The girl then tries to force Julien to fight in a war between them, going as far as faking that Julien pushes her into a fountain.

Luna is a tall woman standing above her peers at 6'0". She opts to wear smaller heels or flats due to her height. She has straight dark brown hair that reaches her shoulders and brown eyes. She has small features and a strong sense of self. Her sense of style is frilly and feminine with a boho-chic vibe. She loves to show off her legs.
Personality
Queen Bees always need their loyal subjects. Luna is one of Julien's devotees along with Monet de Haan — always with her iPhone at the ready to snap a pic or a fashion tip to spare — and will do anything for her friend. She's willing to dip into "mean girl" territory, and isn't necessarily the most welcoming to newbies like Zoya Lott. Luna takes an immediate disliking to Zoya due to her status as a freshman. Luna is also quick to follow stronger personalities, seen when she changes from following Julien's direction to teaming up with Monet to get rid of Zoya. Despite her flighty nature, Luna contributes to plans and is capable of handling the smaller tasks required of her. She has shown callous cruelty and cold-heartedness, unapologetic with no remorse for anyone below her social status, as seen when she played Zoya's bullying video. Luna knows that if Julien succeeds, she will too and will delve into unmoral grounds to make sure that happens. However so, her loyalty knows a bound if she recognizes a new world order rising, and briefly takes Zoya under her wing. She is the first to accept Julien's desire to include Zoya as part of their inner circle and began seeing the sisters as a package deal, so much so she condemns her closest confidant Monet for betraying them to their rivals and instead sides with Julien, showing a more independent and defiant stance to her.
