Camille is a strong, independent, grossly rich woman who demands the respect she deserves and then some. She knows her power and doesn't flaunt it often. Instead, she leverages it when needed. She bribes Constance Billard St. Jude's School into giving Monet the best grades, ensuring her daughter wants for nothing. She unintentionally creates a privileged, expectant, spoiled girl who bullies her way to the top. Camille does not hesitate to read her daughter down, publicly or privately. She honors tradition and the roles she must play in high society, and is humiliated by Monet's disregard for them during the deb ball. As shown during her conversation with Monet after the spectacle she had caused, there is a limit to how much Camile is willing to tolerate of Monet's antics, as shown where she angrily rebuked and scolded her for inviting Davis Calloway to the debutante ball in light of his new status as a sexual predator for the sake of humiliating Julien Calloway, Monet's best friend. As shown, Camille was disgusted by Monet's actions and was further angered when the latter stated how she was "inspired" by her mother's words and example in guiding her actions. In this conversation, Camille expressed her disappointment, anger and frustration in Monet putting more focus on how she looked instead of who she was, showing that while covering for her and hiding her daughter's poor academic abilities and problematic behavior, Camille disgusted by them and makes it known that she is in truth, embarrassed by her daughter and desires for her to improve herself internally instead of just making herself look good externally.
